Volume 12 Number 1

A little girl and her father were crossing a bridge. The father was kind of scared so he asked his little daughter:  "Sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you don't fall into the river."

The little girl said: "No, Dad. You hold my hand."

"What's the difference?" Asked the puzzled father.

"There's a big difference," replied the little girl. "If I hold your hand and something happens to me, chances are that I may let your hand go. But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens, you will never let my hand go."

In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its bond.

Free PIA of MN Seminar

The PIA of MN is sponsoring a FREE seminar on March 20th. It offers you a great educational opportunity, even if you’re not a PIA member.

The InterAgency doesn’t sell anything directly to the public, so we can’t succeed unless your agency and agencies like yours succeed. Erickson-Larsen and four insurance companies (SFM Mutual, The Hartford, Capitol Companies, and Travelers) also feel this seminar is important and are helping to make agents aware of the need to attend.

Trust is the single most important factor in the sale of insurance. The world of marketing has changed rapidly over the last few years. Social media and website marketing have created immense new challenges for insurance agencies.

A few months ago a good friend sent me a book called The Trust Edge. I enjoyed reading it and found its message to be easily applicable to selling insurance. I gave a copy of the book to several people, including Greg Sather of the PIA of MN. He decided it was important enough to create a seminar that involved David Horsager, the author.

Last fall I wrote to the agents of Minnesota about the 2011 PIA National Agency Marketing Guide. I recommended it as a great tool to enhance your agency’s marketing efforts. Ted Janusz, one of the writers featured in that guide (and the similar Guide published in 2010), will speak at the seminar about social media in insurance. He is a nationally known speaker from Ohio, who has a real grasp of what’s important and the ability to articulate why.

During the last few months Greg Sather and I have gotten to know Jeff Sauer. He is the only Google Analytics Certified Partner in Minnesota and one of sixty in the USA. His presentation alone, on website development, would be enough to justify time away from your office.

Please take a moment now to go to http://insuranceagoragate.com/trust/ to register for this seminar. You’ll thank the PIA for caring enough about the independent agents of Minnesota to sponsor this seminar. This seminar will be one of those experiences you will remember for years to come.
